Nature Connection Experience Adelaide Hills

  • The Castle 1 Silver Rd Bridgewater Australia (map)

This nature connection experience is provided by occupational therapist Bronwyn Paynter and is based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, or forest bathing. It is not about bushwalking or nature identification, or ‘thinking’. It is an opportunity to engage our 5 senses - listening, touching, smelling, tasting and seeing as we allow ourselves to just ‘be’ in nature. The experience involves a series of guided ‘invitations’ to help us connect with nature, calm our busy minds, perhaps be playful and have some fun. The experience is tailored to the needs of the group, which is limited to a maximum of 12 people.

Our location is a private garden which has been generously made available to support the work of connecting people with nature for health and wellbeing as well as for the benefit of nature and our planet.

Nature connection supports the development of sensory awareness, emotional regulation, reducing our 'fight/flight' stress response, boosting our immune system and increasing feelings of creativity, energy and clear thinking. All of these can support our ability to do the things we need, want and have to do every day.

In a world where people of all ages are increasingly disconnected from nature, a deliberate nature-based experience such as this can help us access the wellbeing benefits of nature. This event is suitable for people aged 15 and over.
